What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic astrology It is the study of the positions of celestial bodies such as the Sun, the Moon, Mars, etc. regarding the zodiac and the interpretation of the effect of such celestial bodies on events on earth in the life of an individual or a country or the entire world. It is called Vedic Astrology, because the principles on which study and interpretations are made were first listed in the ‘Vedas’, the first treatise on ancient Hindu philosophy.

What is the Zodiac?

What is the Zodiac? If we imagine a path in the sky about 18 arc-degrees wide surrounding Earth in an east-west direction, the star clusters will appear to be apparently fixed relative to Earth along this imaginary path. There are 27 groups of stars on the way that are recognized by Vedic Astrology. These groups of stars on the imaginary path are called the zodiac. This zodiac constitutes the reference to fix the position of any planet or star in the sky. Since this zodiac surrounds the Earth, it can be measured as 360 degrees, where these 27 groups of stars are evenly placed, so each of them has a span of 360 degrees / 27 = 13 degrees 20 ‘of bow.

What are the signs of the zodiac or Rashis?

When the zodiac is divided into 12 equal parts, each of which has an arc of 30 degrees, then each of these arcs is called a sign of the zodiac. Therefore, a signal will consist of 2? groups of stars. A particular group of stars called Ashwini, in the zodiac, is considered the starting point of the zodiac and is called star number 1. Similarly, there is an individual name for the group of 26 stars. Ashwini (1), Bharini (2), Krittika (3) are the first three stars of the zodiac. As stated above, the first 30 degree arc span in the zodiac will consist of Ashwini, Bharini, and? of Krittika constitute the first sign of the zodiac called ‘Aries’. The names of the 11 zodiac signs remaining after ‘Aries’ are: Taurus (2), Gemini (3), Cancer (4), Leo (5), Virgo (6), Libra (7), Scorpio (8), Sagittarius. (9), Capricorn (10), Aquarius (11) and Pisces (12).

What are the celestial bodies?

Influencing events on Earth, the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu, all loosely referred to as planets, appear to revolve around the Earth continuously while always staying within the limits of the zodiac. . Vedic astrology in the ancient text had recognized these 9 entities. Of which the Sun is a star. The moon is the satellite of the earth. Rahu and Ketu are two mathematical points of the zodiac and the rest are planets. Modern Vedic astrologers also consider the effect of distant planets such as Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto.

What is an ecliptic?

The apparent movement or trajectory of the Sun along the zodiac is called the Ecliptic. The ecliptic passes through the center of the zodiac and is tilted at an angle of 23 degrees and 28 minutes towards the center of the zodiac.

What are Rahu and Ketu?

The apparent path of the Moon around the Earth intersects the ecliptic obliquely at two points called ‘Nodes’. The point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north is called the ascending node or ‘Rahu’ when it crosses the ecliptic from north to south it is called the descending node or ‘Ketu’. These 2 points are separated by 6 signs of the zodiac or 180 degrees. The position of these two points with respect to the signs of the zodiac is of equal importance to the position of other planets with respect to the sign of the zodiac in Vedic astrology.

What is the rising / rising sign?

The ecliptic passes through the center of the zodiacal belt that extends 9 degrees on its side (north or south). The planets remain within the limits of the zodiac. The earth rotates around its axis once every twenty-four hours from west to east. As a consequence, all the planets appear to rotate around the Earth from east to west once every twenty-four hours. The zodiac with its stars and signs fixed on it also appears to rotate around the earth from east to west once every 24 hours. Thus, all the points of the zodiac signs and stars will appear to successfully rise on the eastern horizon and set on the western horizon once every 24 hours. Therefore, for each point and time on earth, there will be a unique point in a particular zodiac sign that will rise on the eastern horizon.

When an individual is born, the point in the particular zodiac sign, expressed in longitude, that rises on the eastern horizon at the exact time of their birth for the exact latitude / longitude of the place where they were born is the unique space-time coordinate for the individual. This is called the Ascendant (Lagna) of the individual or the Ascendant Sign.

What is Janma Rashi / Moon Sign / Moon Ascendant?

In Vedic astrology, the exact position of the Moon at the exact time of birth relative to the zodiac sign and the point in the zodiac sign expressed in lengths will be Janma Rashi / Moon Sign / Moon Ascendant.

What is the sun sign / sun ascendant?

Like the Moon sign, the length of the Sun relative to the zodiac at the exact time of birth is the individual’s Sun Sign. Western astrology places great importance on the sun signs and ALL YOUR ZODIAC SIGNS are your sun signs according to Vedic astrology. The sun sign on the basis of western astrology and Vedic astrology will differ by one sign many times. This is because according to Western astrology, the zodiac is also moving, while Vedic astrologers consider the zodiacs to be fixed. The reason for this difference will be explained on the website at a later date. In the meantime, we only mention this so that you will not be alarmed to see the difference in the zodiac sun signs when calculated by Vedic astrology.
