Main parts of an excavator and how it works

An excavator is an engineering vehicle used to dig or fill large holes. The basic structure of an excavator is made up of the arm, the bucket and the tracks. The drive and power source of the excavator is one of the main components of this equipment.

Basically, excavators run on diesel as the main source of energy as it produces higher power compared to gasoline. Also, diesel is more suitable for heavy duty to power the engine that drives the whole machine. This means that it is responsible for driving the hydraulic arm for the digging and lifting mechanism, as well as the tracks used for its mobility.

The second part of an excavator is the hydraulic mechanical arm that does most of the work. The arm consists of two parts joined by a hinge plus a bucket at the end. The arm consists of three hydraulic pistons, one attached to the bottom of the first arm part and the second attached to the top of the other arm part. The third piston is normally used to facilitate bucket movement both forward and backward, generating the dig and scoop action.

The third important part of any excavator is the track system that allows it to go forward, backward, as well as turn or turn. The cabin is closed to protect the operator from external factors such as rain in the workplace. Some custom excavators have a cab that rotates 360 degrees for better control.

The first task to perform when operating an excavator is to control the dozer blade. First, you must lower the left hand controls into position before putting on your seat belt. The next task is to control the bulldozer blade by moving it up and down to place the blade securely on the ground for stability. The bucket at the end of the arm is controlled by using the joystick to perform different operations, such as digging or scooping. However, safety must be exercised a lot every time you operate an excavator to avoid mishaps.
