mantra for success

What is success?
Everyone knows and yet no one knows! I looked at our own mantras and their interpretations to find the answer. This article is an attempt to successfully marry mantras into our religious texts.

Let me ask the question once more: WHAT IS SUCCESS?

1. For some, it is “ACQUIRE MONEY AND WEALTH”
2. For others, it is “QUEEN THE THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE”
3. For a few, it is “LEAD A HEALTHY LIFE”
4. For some, it is “LEAD A LIFE WITHOUT PROBLEMS”
5. For some, it is “BEING THE IDEAL MAN”

Let us now open each of the above 5 realms of success using the key of our own mantras…

1. For some, it is “ACQUIRE MONEY AND WEALTH”

Lakshmi: Om Shrim Mahalakshmiyei Swaha

Rough translation: ‘Om and greetings to that feminine energy that bestows all kinds of wealth, and for which Shrim is the seed’

This mantra has not only been used to attract prosperity, but also to attract good friends, clear up misunderstandings and family disputes, and smooth over some health problems. As we all know, there are many different types of wealth. While using this mantra, focus on the type of wealth you want to manifest in your life.

2. For others, it is “QUEEN THE THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE”

Saraswati: Om Eim Saraswatyei Swaha

Rough translation: ‘Om and greetings to that feminine energy that informs all artistic and academic endeavours, and for which Eim (pronounced I’m) is the seed.’

Saraswati holds a musical instrument, the vina, in one hand and a rosary in the other hand. She encompasses the world of mundane knowledge and spiritual understanding. Those who pursue any artistic or educational endeavor will greatly benefit from the practice of this mantra.

3. For a few, it is “LEAD A HEALTHY LIFE”

Rama (healing mantra): Om Apadamapa Hataram Dataram Sarva Sampadam Loka Bhi Ramam Sri Rama Bhuyo Bhuyo Namamyaham

Rough translation: ‘Om, O Rama, most compassionate, please send your healing energy right here to earth, to earth (twice for emphasis)’

Let me now tell you a story about the same thing that I picked up from the net. “I have seen this mantra completely cure a person of a schizophrenic bout who was in a closed ward. The psychiatrist said he would never lead a life in the open again. In the midst of a 40-day sadhana performed on his behalf, I was living in a ‘halfway house’ for those on the road to recovery. After 40 days of a spiritual discipline done on his behalf, he was alone. He has since graduated from Art School which he attended on scholarship, and is working like an artist.”

4. For some, it is “LEAD A LIFE WITHOUT PROBLEMS”

The Planet Saturn: Om Sri Shanaishwaraya Swaha

Rough translation: ‘Om and greetings to the presiding spirit on the planet Saturn’.

Saturn is the planet of lessons. It is closely related to the karma that we can find in a given life. It also stands as a guardian of some of the higher vibrations to which we aspire through spiritual development. By offering greetings externally, one clears certain obstructing internal energy patterns. But Saturn has received too negative a reputation from some astrologers. There have been circumstances where very positive things have manifested unexpectedly in people’s lives, apparently as a direct result of working with this mantra. Therefore, the use of the Saturn mantra can mitigate and even cleanse certain categories of karma that appear in our lives.

5. For some, it is “BEING THE IDEAL MAN”

Rama: Om Sri Rama Jaya Rama, Jaya, Jaya Rama

Rough translation: ‘Om and Victory for Rama (inner self), victory, victory for Rama’.

Rama was an Avatar who came several thousand years ago. The sole purpose of it was to show how a person should live a Divine Life while he lives in a human body. Mahatma Gandhi practiced this mantra for over 60 years. This mantra will ‘carry one across’ the ocean of rebirth. In a more immediate way, it is more powerful in reducing negative karmic effects no matter in which lifetime they occurred.
