Planning an effective lighting scheme

A great lighting design can bring a house to life, enhance its space and make more attention to the furniture and organizational design of all rooms. Planning your lighting scheme should be an active part of your home remodeling or design process. Don’t let it be part of your thought process until everything else is finished in decorating the house. Enlightenment is not just the last step. Keep in mind that the other aspects of your home decorating plan will affect your ability to position your lights. You also don’t want to be overly rigid in your plans, as you may want flexibility in your ability to position lighting in different areas of the room depending on how you want to display your furniture or home design.

Therefore, it is imperative that you start the process of thinking about your lighting needs right at the beginning of your home renovation or makeover. You better keep these needs in mind when you are working on plumbing. Again, this goes back to the main point that you need to keep in mind that all aspects of home design should be done according to your lighting needs as they are probably the most important part of the home. If you can’t see the layout properly, then it’s all useless.

During your planning process, you should also consider how you will decide to place your pictures and furniture. In general, there are endless possibilities for how you can arrange all of your furniture, so be sure to plan your lighting scheme according to every possible arrangement that you might end up deciding on. That way, you won’t be rigidly stuck on one design and lighting scheme.

There are a few other considerations worth taking note of. Make sure you have enough places to install lighting in each room. If necessary, you can always install recessed receptacles under the floor or placed behind or under furniture. Also consider the lighting you’ll need for your various household tasks, such as general living room lighting, kitchen lighting, bathroom lighting, and bedroom lighting.
