Ten essential places to visit in Zambia

Zambia is a country located in Central Africa. It borders Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Although it is a landlocked country, there are still great and wonderful places that you can visit in Zambia.

1.) Soweto Market

For any tourist and visitor, a visit to Soweto Market is a must. Here you will definitely get to know more about the culture of the Zambian people while experiencing a part of their daily life. You can find anything in Soweto market, from medicines to mechanical parts and vegetables, just be careful with your bags, especially if they contain money, as there are pickpockets here.

2.) The Anglican Cathedral

You can find this cathedral in Lusaka, a city in Zambia. You will definitely enjoy looking at its stained glass windows and marvel at the elegance of the building. This is also called the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

3.) Henry Tayali Gallery

This gallery is a must see when you are in Lusaka. This houses artifacts and arts made by Zambians. You can even purchase some of these arts and have them shipped back to your home country.

4.) Munda Wanga Environmental Park

This is a park and sanctuary for many animals native to Zambia. You can also find the Botanic Gardens here where you are sure to enjoy a nice and relaxing afternoon after a hectic day of going to the different wonderful places that Zambia has to offer. There is also the Terrace Bar and Restaurant where you are sure to enjoy a good meal.

5.) Lilayi Lodge

This is a ranch that is home to an abundance of wildlife. Here, you can go on a safari that will take you around the ranch and see the variety of exotic animals that live in the area. It also offers modern amenities such as a swimming pool and a wonderful restaurant.

6.) Victoria Falls

This is another popular tourist destination that was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will be able to see a waterfall twice as tall as Niagara Falls and much bigger, longer and wider than Niagara Falls. Anyone who sees its majestic beauty will be truly captivated by its magnificence.

7.) Livingstone Island

A visit to this island is surely something a visitor should not miss. Here you can enjoy a dip in the Devil’s Pool or take a picture with a permanent rainbow in the background. However, you can only do this during the UK summer due to the changing water level.

8.) Chipata City

If you want to spend some quiet time with your loved one, you can always climb Kanjala Hill. Once you reach the top, you will surely enjoy the magnificent view of Chipata, and this hill is also perfect for picnics. You can also visit the Central Mosque when you are in Chipata.

9.) Kafue National Park

Recognized as one of the largest parks that Zambia has to offer, this is also a favorite tourist destination. Here you can take boat trips that will take you along the Lufupa and Kafue rivers. There is also the popular safari that you can go on and by doing so you will be able to see the wide variety of wildlife that inhabits the park.

10.) Lower Zambezi National Park

This park is home to a wide variety of wildlife such as elephant and hippopotamus. You can also see lions here, as well as leopards and their favorite prey, buffalo. You can have a great fishing experience along the river, or you can go canoeing.
