Testing the Tunturi C60 Elliptical Trainer

The Tunturi Elliptical Trainer C60 is a medium quality elliptical bike designed for the home. Tunturi is a well-known Finnish company on the European continent. They recently changed and redesigned their line of elliptical trainers. Little information is available on many of their relatively new models.

We had the opportunity to use and test the C60 elliptical trainer for about 3 weeks. It was purchased for home use by a family that is relatively picky about their fitness equipment. At around $1500.00 it is considered to be in the mid to high priced elliptical. Tunturi elliptical trainers range in price from $699 to around $2700.

At first glance, the frame seemed to be well built and stable. We had previously tested previous Tunturi elliptical trainers and found them to be less than expected. They were notoriously loud, especially during intense workouts. However, the model 60 elliptical we used was surprisingly quiet until we hit the higher levels of aerobic exercise.

The compact console of the Tunturi C60 elliptical trainer was less than expected. Granted, we spend a lot of time on ProCor trainers at the local gym, so the comparison may not be fair. The ergometer provides adequate information to the user. The 8 relatively easy-to-use profiles should suit most home users, but we went with our own training layout. If there is a common weakness in all elliptical trainers, it is in the electronics. Only time will tell if the Tunturi C60 Elliptical Trainer Console will stand up to the task.

Tunturi’s warranty for the C60 elliptical compares well to most mid-range ellipticals. We are a big believer in extended warranties and this is especially true for new model launches. Frame is covered for 15 years, parts are covered for 3 if you register your warranty online with one year labor coverage. Extended warranties are almost always a good investment when purchasing fitness equipment. Many times this is a tradable item and can sometimes be purchased at reduced prices.

The Tunturi C60 elliptical trainer is designed for home use, but the average homeowner isn’t equipped to handle the delivery of this piece of equipment. With a bulky weight of 350lbs a good dolly is required and if it is to be located on the upper floors a crew of at least 3 people is required to locate this machine. Be sure to contact your dealer, Tunturi and the shipper to assess the actual cost of delivery and setup.
