One of the most historic and notable places in Northrend is definitely Drak’Tharon Keep. According to lore, this is where Prince Arthas Menethil himself stayed when he was searching for the legendary cursed Frostmourne. This is also the same fort where an old fortuneteller foretold Arthas’s future and subsequent death. And last but not least, this fort is also the very place where Prince Arthas met the legendary fighter, Muradin Bronzebeard. In the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the fortress will once again play a key role, this time as one of the dungeons that players can participate in. If you are excited to play this dungeon, you better control your horses and read the information about it below first. Who knows, right? This could give you an advantage over other players. Where is it?

The keep is located in the northwestern part of the Northrend Grizzly Hills region. Getting there is complicated. The lands around them are patrolled by the Scourge.

What is the fight about?

Drak’Tharon Fortress has long been held by the Scourge and they have spread terror in the region. A very solidly built structure, the fortress can withstand a lot of force from enemies, and this, in part, is one of the reasons why the Scourge stays in the area. Surprisingly, though, the problem doesn’t exactly stem from the Scourge, but from the ice trolls that also inhabit the region, known as the Drakkari. Since it’s the “undead” Drakkari trolls that are attacking the other creatures that live in Grizzly Hills known as Furbolgs, it seems like the fight is more like a turf war. The Drakkari and Furbolg have long been fighting over the region, and it only escalated when the Drakkari became part of the Scourge’s enemy. Without any support, the Furbolg find themselves in dire straits. This is where you come in.

Dungeon details:

The Drak’Tharon Keep dungeon will only have one instance. Previously, it was rumored that there would be two, a level 71-73 instance and a 74-76 instance, one in Grizzly Hills and one in Zul’Drak. This has been proven false, as only a level 74-76 instance will be available. As always, caution is advised. Not only is the region filled with dangerous Dakkari ice trolls, but there are also legions of the undead and ferocious lizards and dinosaurs. There are also four potholes to deal with. The best tactic would be not to waste too much energy on mobs. Make sure you are in perfect condition to face the potholes, or else you will be in a sorry state. Have fun!
