• Is the greyhound heavily favored in a bad box like box 5 or 6?
• Is there a greyhound with bad lines that is well positioned to win today?

First time starters make excellent greyhounds to bet against in the opening races. Especially if your school breeds were against small fields of 3, 4 or 5 other greyhounds. Be sure to always see how many greyhounds they are competing against in school breeds. If they ran amazing against 8 full courses of greyhounds then they are more likely to run well in their first maiden race. On the other hand, a first-time starter who has only faced a few dogs in school breeds might be too much of a gamble.

Drawing the correct frame is very important and even more so when dealing with inexperienced greyhounds. Usually these are boxes of 4, 5, or 6. So make sure you check that out.

You can find a bombshell in these breeds and beat a heavy favorite by looking for greyhounds that have not yet been set to win. For example, a greyhound who has run three maiden races from frame 4, 5 and 6 with top 5 finishes who is in frame 1 or frame 8 today. They will have a post advantage which could translate to a great trip and great odds.

Singles races in the greyhound track can be very profitable! Just make sure you check all the angles. Your advantage in pari-mutuel betting is finding odds that most other bettors won’t see. By always keeping this in mind, you can cash in larger bills more often.
