How to find a cheap used textbook for your college class

Textbooks, all college students hate them, but all college students need them! When surveyed, most college students will tell you that they absolutely hate buying textbooks for their classes. Not only are most textbooks hard to find, but most local college bookstores take advantage of the fact that every student on campus will need to buy a textbook and artificially inflate the price. Traditionally, the only way to save on textbook costs was to check out the scant inventory of used textbooks at your local campus bookstore and pray that the exact book you needed was available.

Well, worry no more!

There is a solution to today’s college textbook system that can not only save you time, but more importantly, save you MONEY. This process allows you to find any cheap used textbook you need and have it delivered right to your door within a few days. As I am sure you have already guessed, this solution can be found on the internet. The Internet, with all its sex appeal, speed, and power, has become a major player in the burgeoning textbook industry. Now you can log in and shop from the comfort of your own home, apartment, or dorm and have your books delivered within days. Not only that, but buying your college textbooks online also allows you a much larger variety and inventory of new and used books than most local college bookstores can offer.

After all, buying college textbooks online seems like a piece of cake. As simple as the process is, there are a few things you should seriously consider before purchasing your textbooks from an online vendor. Here are some tips to help you save a lot of money and get the textbooks you need quickly and easily.

Step #1 – Make a list of all the textbooks you need to buy. Next to each title, list the author, ISBN number, and the revision or edition you need for each book. ISBN# is the International Standard Book Numbering System. This can be found on the back cover of the textbook and is usually
available in your course syllabus.

Step #2 – Find a computer with Internet access.

Step #3 – Take out your credit or debit card. If you don’t have one or don’t feel comfortable using your card online, open a free PayPal account.

Step #4 – Do some quick research on the vendors you are considering purchasing your textbooks from. Take a look at their website and try to answer the following questions. Where they are located? Where do they ship? What are the shipping and handling charges? What is the return policy? Are the books I want to buy currently in stock? How long will it normally take to receive my order? If you can’t find the answer to these questions on the website, look for a toll-free phone number or contact email address. As with any mail order or online purchase, it’s important to know all the details before placing your order.

Step #5 – Once you know all the details, find the textbooks you want to purchase. Any reputable online supplier will be able to tell you whether or not the books you want are currently in stock.

Step #6 – Before paying for your order, make sure the website that is processing your order is encrypted with SSL. Never submit your credit card or payment information to a website that does not guarantee its security. You can usually tell if the page is SSL encrypted by looking in the bottom right corner of your web browser. If the page is encrypted, you will see a small lock icon.

Step #7 – Once you are sure the sales page is secure, place your order and get back to your life!

It really can be that simple. Just follow the steps outlined above and you’ll be sure to save big on your textbooks next semester!
