How to throw and hit with a Swimfeeder

Feeder fishing is a good way to catch larger fish, especially bream, and use a feeder instead of a leash. The trough is filled with ground bait and some worms and then thrown at a mark in front of the fisherman. The food inside will disperse soon, once the feeder has reached the bottom of the water. If the fisherman casts to the same spot every time, eventually the fish will be drawn into the swim, when the fish settle on the food, the fisherman will start to catch them while they collect the hook near the free food offering.

This is a good method for bream. When hooked, play bream carefully as they are slow and tenacious fighters and if you are too hard on them they can throw the hook.

1. Fill the swim feeder and then choose a mark on the opposite bank to target. Open the bullet arm on the spool and look straight ahead looking at the mark.

2. Rotate the wand back and when the feeder is extended rearward, start the feed. Release the line so that it comes off the spool.

3. The rod is pushed forward with the right hand and the left hand pulls the stock downward to accelerate the progress of the cast.

4. As the feeder and bait reach the water, the angler buffers the reel with his index finger to slow down. The good arm is still open.

5. When the feeder hits the bottom, the tip of the wand falls back. Close the bullet arm, bring the rod sideways and roll until the rod has a slight bend.

6. The angler places the rod on the rest and sits at a 45 degree angle, as this will allow him to detect a fish bite. The tip of the soft action rod will either move forward or drop slightly backwards. The fisherman will attack if he sees any of these movements. The larger bream tends to move the rod tip in a slow forward motion, giving the angler plenty of time to connect with the bite.

7. When he sees a bite, the fisherman raises the rod and strikes gently. The smallest bream, called skimmers, will be lost if the blow is too strong. As the stroke is made, the fisherman observes the rod and feels the fish to measure its size. This fish is hooked and the only thing left is to take it to the net. Be careful not to be too harsh on the sea bream as it is easily lost.
