Top Tips to Grow YOUR Email Marketing List

Part of internet marketing is promoting your business. E-Zine Lists are a great way to start marketing your business. But first you need to get people interested in subscribing to your e-zine. Using your small business customer list to build your ezine list is a great place to start.

Email your current customers to let them know you’re launching your first ezine. Keep it simple, a couple of paragraphs is fine. Don’t overdo it, but let them know why they should subscribe to your e-zine.

Spark their interest by luring them with “Something for them” or “how unique” is your e-zine and what makes it so different from other e-zines. You can even include a sample of your first issue or just include the entire issue as a special promotion featuring your first ezine.

Be sure to give specific instructions on how to sign up for future ezines. You can tempt your readers with what they will be missing out on if they don’t sign up. Include a link in your email that takes them to a signup form for your e-zine. The easier it is for your customers to sign up, the more likely they are to sign up.

Offer free and useful things that you know your audience needs and wants you to give them when they sign up. You can turn it into a free report, eBook, helpful tips, or other important resources that you think your reader might be interested in.

Let’s say you own a dog grooming and supply business and want to launch your new ezine. You might offer a free eBook on canine nutrition or canine safety (what’s “okay” for your dog to eat if he accidentally eats it and why you should take him to the vet emergency). When you give your customers something of value to them, they will gladly give you their email address to receive more of your valuable advice in your weekly e-zine.

Not everyone will subscribe to your e-zine the first time they see it, so it’s important that you provide them with other ways to subscribe if they want to. You can do this by providing your website address on your business cards with the ezine information.

Make sure every page of your website has a link or signup box that takes them to a form where they can sign up for your e-zine.

Design a page on your website dedicated specifically to your e-zine.

Have a sign-up sheet to take with you so that when you talk to your customers about your e-zine you can sign them up right there. Or ask them to give you one of their business cards and write “e-zine” on the back. You can then enroll them when you return to your office.

Promote your e-zine in your emails with a signature file (small text file) that can be automatically attached to the bottom of the emails you send and place a link in your emails that leads directly to your signature form above.

Write articles related to your industry and post them on article directories. Allow other people to use your article as long as they give you credit for writing the article by including a link to your ezine subscription form.

Submit your e-zine to websites with databases for articles and e-zines.

Exchange your e-zine with customers who also have e-zines by being a featured guest author on your e-zine.

If you belong to other groups that have newsletters, be sure to mention your e-zine and why it’s valuable.

Include a free subscription to your e-zine for existing customers.

One of the most challenging tasks in building your business is marketing. With a little persistence, consistency, and using your small business customer list to build your ezine list, you’ll be off to a great start in creating a steady stream of new customers.

The best thing about publishing an ezine is seeing your customers forward it to their friends and associates, people you never would have contacted. When they sign up for your newsletter and forward it to YOUR friends and associates, you’ll start to see the power of writing a weekly ezine to increase your customer base and, as a result, increase your sales!
