This article will be a detailed piece entirely dedicated to keeping your computer free of spyware. I’ll go over how to get it out, how to keep it out, and free resources to use. Before we start learning how to stay away, let’s learn how to GET IT OUT!

Eliminate spyware! Getting rid of spyware can be very easy or it can be very difficult. In my situation, it is very easy for me to get rid of spyware. In most cases it is not that easy. It’s easy for me to get rid of it because I don’t have any… Haha. Anyway… The first thing you have to do is find a software to clean your computer. I have no money. EXCELLENT! Because you don’t need any. I have never spent a penny on spyware protection. Here are two fantastic programs that have always worked for me.

AVERAGE

Spybot Search and Destroy

You can download both at downloads.com

Install and run them one at a time. Usually for me if one doesn’t take them out…the other will. However, if you run both and they couldn’t remove all the spyware… You’ll have to do something called reformat. Reformatting your computer is basically starting over. If there are things on your computer that you MUST save. Save them to disk before reformatting. Also, before you reformat, make sure you have a Windows disc and the CD key that came with it. The best thing about reformatting is that your computer will be like new again. HURRAH! Ha ha.

You can find a free guide on how to reformat using Google search. I’d write it myself, but it’s a bit off topic.

Keeping spyware out So… let’s see where we are. We have run the programs and removed everything. Or we have reformatted and have a new computer. So all spyware is out. THANKS GOD! Now we have to keep it out. There are several ways to keep it out.

1. DO NOT watch pornography. Don’t download it. Don’t go to those websites that are full of rubbish. Just don’t do it. You DO have to make sure it’s a secure website, if that’s even possible.

2. Avoid sharing files. Most file sharing programs are free. Have you ever thought why are they free? Because along with the content you are downloading for free, you are getting data miners. Things those companies use to get information about people who use the Internet. Such as keywords… things like that. Anyway avoid them.

3. When you download things like AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. Be sure to read before you hit next when you’re installing them. DO NOT install their toolbars. The most annoying thing when I go to a friend’s house is when I open their web browser, Internet Explorer or FireFox, and there are like 5 different toolbars. That is full of garbage. The safest and most reliable search engine is Google. Wear it and love it.

4. Don’t click on pop-up ads. The new tactic being used by spyware vendors is Anti Spyware advertising. In their ads they say to click for a free scan. What you are actually receiving is a computer payload of spyware.

5. Use a reliable web browser and keep it up to date. Honestly, stop being arrogant and just download Firefox. It is the best and most reliable web browser out there. It’s so easy to use and it’s simply the best thing ever. You can download mozilla firefox from mozilla.com

6. Download and install Zoned Out. Zoned Out loads an entire directory of websites known for spyware into the restricted websites section of Internet Explorer. You can download Zoned out for free by searching on Google.

7. Avoid questionable websites. Any website with free software, free this, free that. It’s free for a reason. So they can load a bunch of spyware on your system. Avoid these sites. They could give you spyware without you knowing it. Only visit websites that are trustworthy.

8. Never provide personal information to a disreputable website. That is a definite NO NO!

9. Use a good firewall. There are 2 free firewalls that I know of that work great. Download Zonealarm Firewall by searching Google for a free download. You can google outpost for a free download. Outpost is the other free firewall.

10. Use your AVG and Spybot Search and Destroy regularly. I would check for problems every 2-3 days.

The end!

Well that’s it. I hope you found this article useful. I did my best to describe my situation and how I got there. I haven’t had a spyware problem in 4 years. All because I’m computer literate and I know what I’m doing. I hope you will too after reading my article. If you liked it, classify me in my blog list.
