Easy Weight Loss Tips: Healthy Snacks When You Are On A Diet

I love easy weight loss tips. Simplicity in a diet plan is very important to me. If a diet is too difficult to stick to, or if I find myself constantly counting calories, that’s too much trouble. I’ve lost over 40 pounds since mid-March, and there are a few rules of thumb for weight loss. In general, creating healthy meals is simple. I always have breakfast every morning. Lunch is usually a homemade fruit smoothie and a protein bar. Dinner consists of a serving of lean protein, lots of fresh vegetables, and some type of whole grain. When it comes to healthy snacking, I’ve learned what to look for to stay on track.

Breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day. Choose whole grain cereals with low-fat milk and fresh fruit. When choosing a cereal, try to get one that has very little sugar. Sugar can really mess up your diet because it spikes your blood sugar and makes you crave more sweets. A piece of fresh fruit like an apple or banana, or berries on your cereal will help keep you full until you have your mid-morning snack. Appropriate diet snacks include another piece of fresh fruit, a serving of almonds, a protein fruit smoothie, or a protein bar. I like to combine protein-based snacks with the fiber from fruit because it will keep you fuller and energized for longer.

Lunch can be another simple meal. Vegetables and a good source of protein like chicken, tofu, or turkey are great because this combination offers low-fat, low-calorie options. You’ll want to skip the bread if it’s not whole grain. Try brown rice or quinoa. Try your vegetables fresh or steamed. If you’re eating a salad, add some almonds, fresh cranberries, or sunflower seeds. The taste will surprise you. If you eat a balanced lunch, healthy mid-afternoon snacks should be a no-brainer.

Dinner should be similar to lunch with its servings of lean protein, vegetables, and a whole grain source. If you want a snack, one of my easy weight loss tips would be to have a cup of herbal tea with a protein bar and fresh berries. In particular, I like to snack on edamame, which is steamed soybeans. They are packed with protein, filling and delicious.

You can choose from a variety of healthy snacks when you are on a diet. Remember to keep it low in calories and make sure it’s packed with the vitamins and minerals you need to be successful with your diet plan.
