When I first read the story, I was more interested in why one should be making only roths or the typical Kashmir pancakes at special festivals. However, when I understood the implication and the hidden message behind the story, my happiness knew no bounds. It was at that time that I decided to write about this extraordinary message behind the pious celebrations in Kashmir families.

According to the story, it is the young woman who hides behind the tree and watches all the ritual performances of the Divine Goddesses in the jungle. These divine beings needed a girl to fulfill and complete their religious ritual. They perceived her and invited her to be part of the final ritual. The young woman was a great observer and learned the entire procedure only in the first instance. They shared with her the purpose of the great ritual since its end and how they perform it every year without fail. She learned and understood the steps of the ritual from them. The divine offered him gifts and gold coins. He returned home and shared the entire episode with his poor parents. They did not believe her and they mistreated her a lot.

This was not the end of the story. The young woman was also adamant and wanted to help them. The following year, he performed the same ritual in a similar way to how the Goddesses performed and his wishes were immediately granted. Unfortunately, her parents did not realize the truth. Once again they punished her badly. The goddesses appeared in their dreams and explained to them the importance of the ritual and how their daughter was pure and pious to perform it in the absolutely correct way. They woke up and realized their own mistake. That is the beginning of the good times for them, as well as for other individual families who performed and participated in the ritual annually. This was the beginning of WINNING FOR A YOUNG GIRL and HOW IT HELPED HER PARENTS.
