How to Stop an Invisible Dog Fence from Continuously Ringing

I was out in the middle of the lake fishing last Sunday and got a desperate call from a lady with an invisible dog fence tag system. She tells me that her system is beeping and she can’t make it stop. She further explains that she can’t call anyone on the phone at the dealership except someone who says she can schedule a service call and they’ll come and fix it. As she continues to talk, she reveals that she has already unplugged it and it is still ringing and driving her crazy. She doesn’t need the system as her dog passed away more than 2 years ago. The lady tells me that she called a couple of invisible dog fence dealers that she found online and no one was willing to help her stop the beeping.

As a formally educated businessman, I find this attitude of invisible dog fence sellers all too common and absolutely reprehensible. They seem blind to providing services to their clients unless they can earn another dollar doing so. Now, considering that Invisible brand dog fence systems are the most expensive on the market, you would expect for this extra price that they would go the extra mile to help their customers. Unfortunately, that’s not the case very often, and quite often it seems quite the opposite. The more it costs, the less “Value Added” service you will receive. If it didn’t give the industry a black eye, I’d care less.

Well, back to the topic at hand. Unit was beeping after being unplugged. Well, to beep you need energy. If it is unplugged, there must be an additional power source, for example a backup battery. I ask him to describe what cables he saw connected to the unit that was ringing. He explained that there were two twisted together, those were the loop wires, there was a black wire that was connected to the transformer that he had already disconnected, there was a green ground wire and there was also a black and red wire together that went to yet another square box large on the wall next to the transmitter.

This was the backup battery that I needed to disconnect. Most invisible dog fence dealers love to sell backup batteries as it brings them extra income, although it’s not very practical in most applications. I told him that he needed to disconnect the combination of black and red wires by simply bringing them closer to the unit and pulling. The little plastic plug came loose and the beeping stopped.

She thanked me profusely and offered to pay me for my help when I refused her gesture and offered to send me the unit as payment for my help. I told her how she could at least get some of her money back from her system by selling it on eBay, since there are always buyers who want it. My personal experience with eBay is that there are a number of invisible dog fence dealers who buy products there to resell to their customers who are looking for used products. At least these invisible dog fence dealers are trying to provide additional services to their customers.
